I. Need. Color!

I don't know about you, but here in Utah it is a winter wonderland! We have had a few pretty good snow storms hit this week, and it is extremely beautiful and quiet outside {minus the slight fender bender I was involved in... haha not my fault}!

While the sparkly snow outside is very peaceful and glamorous, I will not lie to you I am ready for spring! This girl needs some color. I love shopping at this time of year with all the colors and fashions that come out after Christmas. A friend of mine from high school is a professional {literally} at putting outfits together. She is super talented in fashion design and great at what she does! For some ideas and inspiration on how to brighten up your winter look, check out her blog by visiting abreefashion.blogspot.com :)

To spice up my week of... well... white, I decided to share some colorful, spring inspired interiors to gear up for sunshine that is right around the corner:) Hope these fabulous spaces brighten up your dreary winter day!

Mila's Nursery Preview

Hey there! Long time no see. This transition to motherhood has been so hectic but so so fun! Thank you for all the kind words and the patience as I slowly start to take on more and get back to normal everyday stuff with my little lady in tow:)

Today I wanted to share a few bits of Mila's nursery. I still have lots of work to do, mostly wall decor, but between getting pictures done for the gallery wall and the fact that we just moved into my in-laws' basement until we move to Iowa in May, I am not sure of the timing of when it will actually be finished! But the things that are done are too great not to share! Hope you enjoy:)

The rocker I am sitting in was given to us by Quinn's brother. His step mom covered it with a tan chevron textured fabric found at Home Fabrics. She did such a wonderful job!!! I LOVE it!

This is a piece of DIY butterfly art I did using this tutorial I found on pinterest. It was such a fun project to do and definitely adds a unique touch to the room that ties all the colors together.

After putting the fabric combo together at a local fabric store, my wonderful sister-in-law Jen made me the mattress sheet and ruffle bed skirt. She was so great and patient to make my vision a reality! I made thick ties to sew onto this Carter's bumper pad so that the bows would stand out and be very feminine. I also decided on this white Jenny Lind crib to give a girly vintage feel.

I made the bunting flags to add some color to these soft curtains I got from Wayfair.

We are one happy family:) Thanks to my sweet sister Heather for taking Mila's newborn and nursery pictures!

fall is in the air

Here in Utah, you can feel fall in the air. It is such a beautiful time of year! I wish it would last longer, but usually winter comes a little quicker than I would like.

The scenery on the mountains is to die for! Quinn and I need to go for a drive up the gorgeous canyon. These pictures were taken by a friend of mine, the fabulous Jefanie:) Aren't they beautiful?

Today I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite fall essentials for the home:)

#1: First and definitely MOST important. The Bath and Body Works sweet cinnamon pumpkin candle. It is the best smell my nose has ever encountered in the candle world. So many pumpkin candles have a plastic, nasty, candy corn, waxy smell, but not this one my friends! It is THE BEST! I wish I could burn it all year round, but I savor it and reserve it for September-November:) That way it is always special!

The big candles are on sale right now 2 for $20. They are usually $20 just for one, so I consider this a steal!!!

#2: Kneaders pumpkin chocolate chip bread. It is divine, enough said.

#3: Pottery Barn owl plates. Ok, I don't think it is a secret that I have a slight obsession with owls. But don't they just scream fall?! I think so. These are SO adorable and unique!

#4: A fall wreath. Wreaths are great accessories that are easy enough to switch in and out without clashing other home decor. There are also so many wreaths that are DIY and can provide entertainment on a crisp fall day:) I LOVE this wreath I found at weird little world on etsy.

What are some of your favorite fall "must haves"? I love adding to my favorites!

Cresthaven Model Home Pt. 3

Here is the conclusion to the Cresthaven Model home I was so blessed to be able to assist Kirsten with. This last room is the kid's room, and she did SUCH a wonderful job on it. The bird mobile and the roman shade completely make the room for me. I hope you enjoyed looking at our fun project!!!

The Big Reveal :)

This is a post I have been so anxious to share, and now the moment is finally here! Quinn and I - but mostly Quinn hehe - have been working on a DIY project, and it is finally done! For our little lady's nursery, I really wanted a mint dresser with a custom look. And, being the college students on a budget  that we are there wasn't too much money available for this dream of mine! So... of course, I found the goods and Quinn made it happen for me. Such a sweetheart!

We started out by buying this dresser off KSL for $40:

It had a really sweet vintage shape and lots of potential! Major credit to my mom for finding it!!! Then the sanding begun so that we could prime and then paint it:

Once it was primed, we {Quinn} began painting! We chose to use Embellished Blue by Sherwin Williams. We are so happy with how the color turned out.

After it was painted, I found these knobs at Hobby Lobby. They are perfect:

Then we put it all together... and here is the finished product! Thank you to my sweetheart Quinn for doing just such a great job!!!

Yes, I am in love with it. And yes it has been finished for nearly a week and I still go in there just to stare at its beauty. I don't feel to bad considering in 2 months I will be going in the nursery to stare at a real beauty laying in her crib... but for now the dresser will do!

The next project for this room is the rocker. Quinn's brother and sister-in-law donated this rocker to us! It is so cute and goes perfectly with our crib. We love the white:) Also, Quinn's step mom Martsy - an absolute sweetheart - offered to re-cover the chair pads for me! I will post pictures once it is finished:)
