Gratitude

The month of November is a wonderful time! The crisp fall air and warm heavenly scents are so comfy! However, this November is a little difficult for me as it will be my first Thanksgiving away from home. It will be different not to eat my mom's delicious food and go to a movie with the fam, and I will miss sitting around with Quinn's family going through all of the Black Friday ads and playing cards.

While this is a little tough for me and I will miss our families a lot, I decided to remind myself what Thanksgiving is all about. Being grateful for what I do have. I may not have our families physically here on Thanksgiving, but we have telephones and Face time! I have Quinn and Mila. We have amazing friends to eat dinner with! I already have an awesome shopping buddy {Crafty Chelsea} lined up for Black Friday! You know she will be a good one to have around:)

So, I know I will be okay. I am grateful for the new people here that I have met to help make this Thanksgiving bright. I am also SO grateful that we have such wonderful family we have left behind, and that is what makes it so tough:)

Love you and miss you all Gardners and Goeringers!

To keep my chin up, I made myself none other than a PRINTABLE:) They are so pretty to look at and can be good reminders.

Mila's Birthday!

This week we were able to celebrate Mila's first birthday! It was so much fun. My mom and sister were able to fly out from Utah to be with us to celebrate, it meant the world! We kept the party small, just family and a couple of close friends. But, naturally, I wanted to make it pretty!

I went with a butterfly theme with a gold/mint/coral color scheme. I did a lot of paper crafts and used inspiration from the sweet banner by Rifle Paper Co. It turned out really cute. It was such a fun celebration to honor our sweet girl!!! We love you Mila Raye:)

{One} that I love!

Mila Raye is turning ONE tomorrow. I cannot believe that it has really been a year. On the one hand time has gone so quickly and she is so grown up, but on the other it feels like I have known this amazing girl for a lifetime. I will be spending most of the day prepping for her party, but here is a sneak peek. Don't worry, I will post all of the fun pictures afterwards! Enjoy!

Halloween Etsy Favorites.

Well folks, if you haven't already put out Halloween decor around your home, it's time to get going!!! Don't worry, it isn't too late, and I have put together some of my favorites from Etsy. Etsy is one of my favorite places to look at for home decor because the handmade items are so unique and a lot of them are pretty reasonably priced! I am in awe of how creative people are! Enjoy!

Zulily Fabulousness

So I know that it isn't even Halloween yet, but I can't help myself. Christmas is such a great holiday, and it takes time to prepare! My husband always teases that I have Christmas shopping done in October. I just get so excited!

Zulily is having a fantastic sale right now on Christmas party and wrapping supplies. There are some really cute and unique things right now, but the sale only lasts for 2 more days! Just thought I would pass the information along if you know you are hosting a holiday party this year. This stuff from Zulily will make your job a piece of cake! Here are some of my favorite items:

LLS Light the Night Fundraiser

I would like to take the opportunity to post about something near and dear to me and my family. My husband is currently in the Physician Assistant program. One of his professors is a Leukemia and Lymphoma survivor. In honor of her and all affected by this awful cancer, they are doing a "Light the Night" fundraiser next weekend.

The reason that this hits so close to home is because my husband's mother passed away from this exact cancer many years ago, only 6 months after being diagnosed. Quinn was just three years old, the youngest of ten children. As a wife and mother I can't imagine the struggle and heartache she went through battling this cancer knowing she would be leaving her husband and children.

Though I have never met my mother in law, I know she must be a strong, sweet, and amazing woman. She has been such a wonderful example to me and has surely left a legacy within our family. In honor of Debra Raye Goeringer, I wanted to post a link to the website where you can donate to cancer research if you would like.

Just click HERE to donate. Any amount is surely appreciated! This research and education is really the key to finding a cure. Thank you so much for stopping by:)

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all.

-Emily Dickinson

I LOVE this art done in honor of cancer awareness.

October {love}.

OCTOBER IS HERE!!!

I know it sounds crazy, but I used to HATE October. Next to January and March, it was the WORST! I think I just had anxiety about a new school year/winter coming. I love the warmth and freedom summer offers, and fall was a reminder of the frigid bleak days on their way that never seem to go away!

So, I know, you think I was crazy. And I was. People, I have joined the rest of you and October is now probably, no... ABSOLUTELY like the best month. Ever. This could be because:

1. In college, BYU campus was BEAUTIFUL! I loved walking in and out of class every day and soaking in the fall air. {LOATHED it in the winter:)}

2. Pumpkin bread, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candles @ Bath and Body Works, boots, cardigans. Nuff said.

3. October is the month before November {in case you weren't aware} and our anniversary is November 12th! Thus fall/October makes me all twitterpated and such.

4. My baby girl was born to us on October 10th last year. She is almost ONE! Needless to say, it is the best month ever invented because Mila Raye's birthday is in October!

We had a fall party with all of the student wives this last weekend. It was a fun fall gift exchange, and it was so cool to see how creative some people can be! In honor of my new found love for October, I made this printable and paired it with a glitter dot pumpkin, as featured in Yesterday's post:) I like how it turned out! I have it for sale in my etsy shop.

Pinterest Success! {DIY Glitter Pumpkins}

This week while the husbands were away, the ladies decided to play! I had a couple of my friends over and we had a much needed craft night. It was so fun! I am always all about quick, inexpensive, fool proof crafts. This one was perfect!

We wanted to make the pumpkins we found on Pinterest using this tutorial.

My friend Sara was a genius and thought of doing it with fake pumpkins so we could use them year after year. I thought this was a great idea. We searched for white pumpkins everywhere! Turns out, they can be a bit pricey for us students. So to the dollar store we went! We ended up getting these beauties {haha} at Dollar Tree.

Not bad for a dollar though, if I do say so myself! I popped off the flowers on top of the smaller pumpkins, primed and then painted them all using Krylon's Dover White spray paint. After they were dry, we cut part of a branch to make little stems. Then we continued with the above tutorial:)

Ours turned out really cute! I was very happy with the finished product. They ended up very similar to the ones we were patterning them after, which is always a relief:) I really liked how ours have size variation as well as the fact that they will be around next year too!

All I can say is I love when I have a good Pinterest success! I will be sharing some of my favorites regularly, so stay tuned!

Now, go make some fabulous pumpkins. Enjoy!
