Wedding Weekend!

This weekend was so fun! My older brother Shawn got married to his sweetheart Sage. It was such a beautiful ceremony at the Salt Lake City Temple and we had a reception after in my parent's backyard. Sage chose grey and yellow for her colors, and a sort of vintage theme for the wedding. Everything turned out so darling. Here are some pictures my sister took of our fun weekend! Wasn't it a pretty wedding with such a gorgeous couple?

That this was my bathroom. Actually I quite like my bathroom, maybe I just wish I had a place with two bathrooms to decorate beautifully:) Lucky for my sister-in-law to be in 2 DAYS, she got these lovelies from Target for their bathroom. Lucky, lucky girl!

Guest post from Dulles Glass and Mirror

Today I am thrilled to feature a guest post from Dulles Glass and Mirror. Here are some great ideas and tips on redecorating your kitchen, particularly tips for backsplashes. Enjoy!!!

Exploring the World of Kitchen Backsplashes (photo)

One common feature that may be overlooked in the kitchen, are backsplashes. There are dozens of options when it comes to backsplashes. Did you know there are glass backsplashes, chalkboard backsplashes, LED-lit backsplashes, mirrored backsplashes and even stainless steel backsplashes?

In this guest post, I will show you what’s out there in the world of kitchen décor, and what backsplashes are particularly stylish.

Neon Glass Backsplash (photo)

These colorful glass backsplashes really set off this otherwise all white kitchen. The contrast between the neon and the white is what makes the colors pop even more! The reflection of the light off the glass backsplashes also brighten up the kitchen.

Chalkboard Backsplash (photo)

This chalkboard backsplash was created by a DIY designer, with chalkboard paint. While most use chalkboard in kitchen décor as a cute placement for to-do or grocery lists, this designer decided to turn it into a patterned design. At the end of the day, it’s chalk, so you can always come up with new designs and new uses for your chalkboard backsplash. The possibilities are endless.

LED Lit Glass Backsplash (photo)

Glass backsplashes with installed LED lighting will turn heads, while still serving a valuable function. They’re perfect for that middle of the night trip to the kitchen for a glass of water, or for dazzling guests during a late night rendezvous!

Mirrored Backsplash (photo)
Similarly to glass backsplashes, a mirrored backsplash reflects light and makes your kitchen appear larger. This is the perfect solution for small kitchens that receive lots of natural light. Any mirrored surface will brighten up the kitchen and give an illusion of a larger space.

Stainless Steel Backsplash – Ridged Cobblestone Pattern (photo)

In what might be one of the coolest backsplashes in the Stainless Living collection, this stainless steel backsplash combines a modern design cue with the scratch resistance of stainless steel. If you want looks coupled with durability, this is the backsplash for you!

At the end of the day, the best backsplash for you will obviously depend on your kitchen. Do-it-yourselfers might opt for the chalkboard backsplash, people with dark kitchens might opt for the glass or led-lit backsplashes, and people with small kitchens may opt for the mirrored backsplashes. Do what’s right for your kitchen and your budget, and have fun!

Pinterest Pretties:)

I don't know about you, but pinterest has changed my life! It is so amazing and full of so many beautiful things! If only I could get around to doing all of the wonderful ideas/recipes/DIY projects on there:) As I was browsing today, here were a few of the pretty spaces I found. Enjoy!

I love love LOVE the gold trim around the headboard! I am usually a freak about separating gold and silver, however this room is so tastefully done. Love!

How about the exterior color and pattern of this home? Isn't it spectacular? Not to mention the darling arbor above the garage:)

Yellow cabinets. White subway tile. Stainless steel appliances. Need I say more? You're right. I needn't:)

Internship = over. Journey = just beginning!

Well everyone, I am officially done with my internship with Kirsten. I had my last day on Tuesday, where we put the finishing touches on the model home I have been helping her with {I will post pictures!} It was such a bittersweet moment, seeing the HUGE project Kirsten and I had accomplished come to an end was so sweet, but knowing the internship, learning, and random fun with Kirsten was over was so sad.

Kirsten is wonderful. I don't think I could ever run out of great things to say about her. All of you know from her work and her blog that she is a talented designer, and this is extremely true! But she is also so much more than that! Though she has taught me irreplaceable lessons in design, she has also taught me other important things as well. For example, Kirsten is SUCH a good mom. She balances work with motherhood so beautifully, and Jett is always her priority. I think this is a wonderful trait. Kirsten is also extremely patient with everyone she is working with. She is also such a kind and understanding person and is such an easy person to talk to and get along with. She also has wonderful pregnancy advice! She helped me get through the first tough months of pregnancy, and we even hit up taco bell to feed our cravings:) This girl knows SO much!

The day I met Kirsten I was in shock since she is my interior design idol. She is still that to me every bit but also she is a very dear friend. Thanks for everything Kirsten! I had such a blast:)

Summertime sitting

Interior design is great. But did you know your outdoor area can look just as exquisite? With the natural beauty that the outdoors bring, it is necessary to make a peaceful area outside for you to sit, relax, and enjoy lemonade during this season! Here are a few of my favorite outdoor areas that left my jaw on the ground and my heart on the veranda... yes with lemonade. Pink lemonade to be exact:)

Nursery Fun

This week I had such a fun opportunity to help a client with a non-traditional coral and mint nursery. This is very funny because I am planning on doing the same thing with our nursery:) This gave me time to research some fabrics that I might like to use, and goodness I had way too much fun! Here are some of my favorites:

I think #6 is my all time favorite, but oh the others are fabulous too! Which one is your favorite?
